A friend just inherited a G3 iBook, and would like to install Panther. Problem is that he doesn't have a DVD drive. What are the possible methods of doing this?
Would sharing a drive over a network work? Any crazy ideas welcome.
Mac OS X 10.3 Panther was originally shipped on 3/4 CDs (with the devtools). Just use the CDs. (or get the CD version if you don't have it).
You could also use CCC to clone the Mac of another iBook drive and restore it.
Notice that you are supposed to have a license for each computer (unless you have the familly pack).
he doesn't own tiger. so that wasn't really an option. after somehow freaking out an external firewire drive, and learning the hard way that an ipod mini is smaller than it says, he used someone elses ipod/disk image method.
