Hello all,
I was typing along a bit ago and my keyboard backlight just shut itself off and refuses to come back on. I've taken the Powerbook into a completely dark room and there's no luck. I've made sure the setting is on in Preferences, repaired permissions, reset the PMU and PRAM, rebooted, logged in as a different user, and nothing seems to work.
This is a brand-new Powerbook 15" (3 days old), running 10.4.2. I originally updated through the software updater when I got the thing, but tried the combo updater last night. Still no luck. The backlight worked fine right up until...well...it just stopped. F8-F10 bring up screens that ostensibly show I'm changing the backlight level, but no light actually comes on.
I'm kind of stumped, here. Anyone have any ideas, short of reinstalling the OS? (which I'm not keen to do, considering this things brand spanking new?)
Edit: Oh yes, I'm in Juneau, Alaska so I do not have an Apple Store anywhere within a reasonable distance. So I'm pretty seriously hoping that this is just a software bug. :/
