Does anybody know if a PowerBook G3 Wallstreet will boot from an external firewire hard drive? Since FireWire was not built into these PowerBooks, a CardBus firewire card would be needed. It certainly should read the hard drive, but I am not so sure that the external HD would be bootable. Anybody know the answer?

I believe so, but I'm not completely sure. If you really, really, really want to know I'll dig mine out of the basement and let you know.

Or you can invest a tiny amount in a RATOC FireWire PCMCIA (PC Card) on eBay and try it yourself. I used 'em a lot back in Wall Street / Pismo days...
Since EBCDIC
Using Macs since they were Lisas.

No, it definitely won't work.

Only AGP Macs can boot from FireWire, because it's built into the motherboard chipset. Even the 2 Mac models with built-in FireWire that's not integrated into the chipset (it's a separate chip on the board) can't boot from FireWire.
