Hi. I have a 667 DVI TiBook/512mb ram running 10.3.9. The battery is aging and the rubber on my power cord has become separated between the cord and the plug (still works fine and I have electrical tape over it).
While I'd love to get a new machine...brighter screen, faster, etc...I'm not sure I want to spend the $$$ and more than anything else, invest money into a "discontinued" processor lineage. Sort of like now might not be the best time to buy for the future. I do graphic design work and my machine has been struggling sometimes to the point that I have to wait for a bit just to do something. Using InDesign and Photoshop, for example. I might not even be doing much...just them being open. Needless to say, I'm quite frustrated. The way I see it...I could upgrade the machine to 1GB ram and get a new 5400rpm drive for around $300 (or a tad less). I expect this would solve my performance issues. Would all of you out there say that this is the way to go, or should I look at a new machine?
Thanks!
