I recently (well, over 6 weeks ago) took my iBook G4 1GHz for repair because the tv adapter was not recognized correctly. The shop I took it to (from where I also bought my iBook) took it in and after a while ordered a new logic board for it from Apple. This was on June 20th. And the board has still not arrived.

Is this normal for Apple to take so long in delivering replacement parts for a 1 year old computer? Seems pretty ridiculous.

I wouldn't actually mind that this is taking so long (I got my computer back while they wait) if it was just the TV-out that wasn't working, but when I got my computer back, I realized that my Airport card isn't working anymore...

Had the same problem as you. I had to give my iBook to change the logic board twice (because the first replacement was faulty as well). It took 3 months overall, and they ended up giving me a new iBook because they couldn't fix another issue...

When my sister had her iBook logic board go out on her, she took it to one of the Apple recommended repair facilities from their website. Turnaround was literally two days. They had a logic board overnighted from Apple, fixed it, and she was back in business. Same thing happened with my iMac g5, when I had a faulty midplane..Overnight delivery from Apple.

What you are going through doesn't sound at all typical based on my experiences. Perhaps you should contact Apple directly, assuming the machine is still under warranty, and tell them whats going on. Forgive me if you have already done this but to no avail? I hope everything works out for you

Well, I sent a couple of emails to the store last week, and it turns out they had just received the logic board (actually two of them). They said that Apple had some difficulty at the end of June with their orders. Don't know if that is true or if they are just covering their own a**es.

Anyway, I'm going to drop my iBook off today, and hopefully get it back tomorrow.
