i was just surfing in safari and viewing some music vids online when safari froze and when i tried to go to any other app or the finder that froze, so i had to hard shutdown. it happeneed just again after a couple of minutes but when i turned my pb on it emitted a strange buzzing noise and would boot past the grey apple screen but at the blue screen stops, but the cursor can move. i didn't do anything yet it broke? i have a 12" rev.b... i don't want to go to "repair" or buy a brand new one [or do i?]

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me with my powerbook. I even had the weird buzzing noise. I also was able to boot of install dvds... It turned out to be my dying HD.

Wow, this sounds exactly like the symptoms a friend of mine is having. I was trying to help him (via AIM) and so decided to see if anyone else was having his symptoms. It's a shame a solution hasn't been reached here.
