I have a rev C (I believe), not the current one, but the one before it, 15" 1.5 Superdrive, 1.25gb RAM, 80gb 4200rpm HD. It was the stock superdrive model.
I am considering dropping back down to the 12" powerbook. I owned one before and really miss the portability. I hated the screen, I had some color problems with it, and it is obviously way worse than the 15" screen, but recently I purchased and Apple 23" ACD, so when at work (where I primary use my computer) I just hook my powerbook up to that.
My question is, if I move from what I have now, to the top of the line 12", with the 1.5ghz, 1.25RAM and 100gb 5400rpm HD, will I be dropping in performance anywhere? It seems like the powerbook, besides the screen, is exactly the same, except getting a faster and larger HD. What I don't know about however are those hidden specs, the ones that I don't know anything about like BUS speed and that sort of thing. So any powerbook hardware gurus out there know the specs and internals of these things? What I'd like to know is all the areas the two differ. I'm sorry if this was not explained very well, I am trying to type very fast before my battery runs out.
Cheers

Well, actually that's one area where I feel I will be downgrading, because 12" batteries are not hot-swapable. I usually have 2 extra batteries in my bag, so I get awesome battery life... with the 12" I can see myself having to shut down the computer a lot. Still not that big of issue, especially since I use it mostly at my desk now.

The 12 still only can go for 1.25GB of ram.

The question you should be asking is "how hot will the 12" get driving the 23" ACD?"

Yeah, the 12" can only go to 1.25gb of RAM, but that is how much I have in my 15" right now and it seems to be okay.
I don't really care how hot it will get driving the ACD since it is never in my lap. I keep it under my desk, closed and tucked away. My 15" gets extremely hot as well, so I ventilate it, but it doesn't bother me since I am not holding it.
So no one knows if there are any particular performance drops? Isn't there some bus speed or something like that that is worse on the 12"?

Something as well that I just noticed, the video card is different. The 12" has an nvidia card and the 15" that I have has the ATI, will I notice a performance difference in this even if they have the same amount of RAM?
