Waking my 17" Powerbook one day, I found that Airport had vanished. It is not in the menu. Internet Connect says "No AirPort Hardware found". Network settings say the Airport is Off. And System Profiler says "No Information Found" for my airport card. Suffice it to say, it does not see any networks. :-)

So I called Apple. They zapped and reset a few things, and said that as far as they can tell, it is hardware, and needs to go back for repair. I also ran DiskWarrior. And I reinstalled the latest drivers.

The really strange thing is that the card apparently did not die 100%. Apple Hardware Test says that the Airport Hardware "Passed" its diagnostic test. So what gives?

So before I give up my computer (with all the annoyance that comes with it), I wanted to ask: is there something obvious I should do?

Is there something else I should try?

Thanks!!

You could try reformatting the Airport Station then running the Airport manager and recreating a connection and a new network.

I fixed it! I formatted an external firewire, and installed a clean copy of the system. And voila! Wifi was found again. Now judiciously running system updates to see where it all went pear shaped.

Thanks
