i have a prob with my g4 laptop. The screensaver was on when the computer froze and the mouse would not respond(first time its happened). So i held down the power button and shut it off. When I push it again to start back up it gets to the white background apple screen but no little cirlce loading thing. Then the screen just has a message that "you need to restart your computer, to restart hold down power button." I did this but everytime i turn the computer on it just goes back to the "you need to restart" Screen . I have no clue what the hell is wrong with it as I have never experienced this problem before. Is there a wasy to start it up in safe mode or something or do i have to reinstal the OS? Any help would be awsome cause i have no clue what to do about this. Plus i have to go back to school in like 3 weeks and i need my comp for it. anyways... Thanks

You're getting continual kernel panics. Try the usual first (reset PRAM, reset PMU, do a search). You get to safe mode by holding cmd-S, but that won't really help in this situation, even if you get to the desktop. Reboot with your boot DVD in the drive and hold down the C key as you are powering on. Run Disk Utility from the DVD (I forget which menu it is in in the OS install program) and try to repair the drive. You may need to reinstall the OS, worst case.
