I love my powerbook but with the intel processors acomin, I have been thinkin and am curious if there are threads or if anyone has the answers for these.

1) With the new macs w/intel processors, will all of the old software still work?

2)Because they will be able to run dual platform, will they be susceptible to all viruses for windows if you are running only the mac OS? (I would assume not, but...)

3)I have been playing on brothers HP with a centrino processor, and speedwise it seems to absolutely blow away my pbook. I have repaired permissions, ran diskwarrior, done a fresh install, cleared all caches, still slower, and I have 512mb more RAM too. Not sure what to make of it, but switching back to a PC for pure speed issues may be in my future?

1) Yes. Unless it require altivec - if it does there will most likely be an update.

2) no.

3) yes... dev notes and posts are suggesting that mhz for mhz the intel macs are faster than the power pc macs.

also notice that by the time they ship they may come with dual cores which will make things even faster... and it is my believe that part of the speed increase is that apple has had 5 years to optimze things and others are saying that its due to the type of bus intel MBs use.

1) Yes though maybe not Classic.

2) We don't know if they will dual-boot but even so, OSX is different than Windows even on the same computer.

3) Ok.
