hello

i am still thinking about to buy an ibook 12" as i waited long for this update. but i need some benchmarks before i will buy because i need to know if it is fast enough to run my own software. there are still no ibooks in german shops to do the benchmark myself.

would anyone please run xbench (http://www.xbench.com/) and post the results? did anyone try maya, blender or a 3d game on the new ibooks?

thanks!
bjoern

Man, the iBook is right on the PowerBook's heels!

If you don't need to pro PB options, I just don't see the value of the PB now. [This coming from a happy iBook owner]

Not bad compared to my 'ol TiBook 667/DVI:

I'm still on the fence about whether it's worth plunking down $999 + tax to grab one. Did you have the processor speed set to maximum in the Energy Saver control panel?

I recall that I set it to the 'highest'. Meanwhile, I think your PowerBook G4 is still good, especial a higher resolution screen than the current iBook.

How on earth can a Wallstreet with a G4 500 upgrade card 10.3 get 36? I don't think those scores are indicative of how responsive the computer will be. The Wallstreet chokes on graphics in X, since I own an upgraded one. Also, multitasking overloads it as well and the slow bus and ram bottleneck it. Not sure how practical that test is.
