I did a search for "trackpad" before posting this and didn't find an answer, so sorry if it's been covered elsewhere.

This afternoon, my trackpad (15" Titanium 1Ghz) started being unresponsive at times.

There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason. One minute it works fine, then the next it doesn't respond. This seems to be more of a problem near the edges of the trackpad.

Questions:
1. Is this common for an almost 3 yr old Powerbook?
2. Does it sound like hardware problem, or perhaps software (I've read elsewhere issues with Tiger and trackpads)
3. If it is hardware, what is involved in fixing it?
4. Would this repair be covered by APP (runs out in November)

Thanks for your help.

I find that my trackpad sometimes goes a little odd at the edges if I have my hand too near. Could that be it?

I've got a newer powerbook with the scrolling trackpad and every now and then it helps if I reset the trackpad. Try placing the plam of your hand over the entire trackpad for about 4-5 seconds, then lift your hand straight off. That get's my trackpad working like new every time, but I don't know if the non scrolling models reset the same way. Give it a try....won't hurt.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Thanks for the replies... Don't really know what the issue was, as things seem to be working fine now. Hopefully stays that way.
