Hey all,

My iBook G4 started freezing last night, sometimes after 2 mins, sometimes before the thing has started up. I inserted the hardware test cd, and it came up with a video ram error on the extended test. Obviously, this thing is now pretty messed and its out of warranty, but i just wondered if this kind of thing has happened to anyone else here in the past, and if so how much it cost them to fix it, because the apple store in my city wont tell me how much its going to cost to repair it, and with the mac mini being so cheap these days, it might make more sense to just buy one of those.

Any help would be really appreciated, i couldnt seem to find any similar cases using the search function on here, so i guess this is my last port of call.

Have you added any RAM yourself? Try removing any extra RAM and see if it still freezes.

thanks voch,

i called some apple dealers and they think its a logic board problem, which basically turns it into a write-off. I am gonna look at some refurbs, maybe a powerbook, are they more reliable?
