Other posts on this topic don't seem to help. I have an 800 ibook, and when trying to eject an Office X disc it attempts to try to eject, meaning I can hear the eject noises, but it doesn't happen. Is there a fix for this, and is there a manually way to eject, i.e. a paerclip somewhere?
Thanks

Yes, the iBooks have a small paperclip hole near the cd slot.
You can also try rebooting and holding the computer at an angle so the CD slot is pointed downward. When it restarts, give it a very gentle shake and that might pop the CD out.

I've tried the paperclip, and think I found the point that should eject it, but happens. Tried eject while tilting down, still nothing. Think I'll run down to the Apple reseller down the road.

Does rebooting while holding the mouse button down eject it?

Tried that. Again, I hear all the noises of it trying to eject, but it just doesn't eject. The reseller says I may have to get a new drive.

How difficult is it to replace a cd player in this ibook? Could I swap it for a dvd burner as well?

Sometimes slot load drives don't like certain discs for whatever reason. If i'm right, your drive tries to eject the disc, can't, then sucks it back in and mounts it on the desktop again? My 12" Powerbook did this, as well as my iMac G5. The easiest way to do this is to eject the disc, and while doing so, kind of use your fingers a bit to spread the slot load drive open. Sometimes the felt that is inside the drive is just tight enough that the drive can't force the disc past it if you know what I mean. Anyway, try the above trick, and hopefully the disc will slide right out. Worked many times for me.

That suggestion lead me to pry the opening open just a bit wider with two fingernails. It worked perfectly on the first try. Thanks. Now for some cheap ram.
