I just bought a refurb 800 mhz g4 from apple 2 months ago everything was working fine until tonight I was importing a cd into itunes and the iBook froze now when I restart it doesn't go beyond the gray screen with the apple logo and the spinning wheel. Thanks in advance.

^%#$%^ I can't get the damn thing to boot, I read this on apple.com/support

Start up from your Mac OS X installation disc and check the hard disk with Disk Utility or, if necessary, fsck.

What installation disc? I tried the tiger (upgrade) disc no disk utility and I can't get to boot up from the pack of cds that came with the ibook. I am so frustrated!!!

First... calm down.

Next... you have to hold down the 'C' key while a bootable CD is inserted. It seems like a corrupt OS X installation, so hopefully you're in luck.

It's on the install CD that you can boot up with. Look in the menus at the top.

Yeah I found it and ran it. Got the message 1 volume couldn't be restored. I am begining to think this refurb iBook bought from apple.com was a bad idea!

I am trying to just reinstall everything like it was when I bought. I load up the restore disc and can't get it to install, it goes to a blue screen and nothing happens just sits there forever.

So I took my ibook into the local apple store, turns out the hard drive was bad. Luckily it's still under warranty they sent it off for me. I should have it back in 5 - 7 days.
