Recentley, if I'm sitting in a quiet room, I can hear that the processor (im guessing) is producing a high pitched sound as it processes. If it's sitting idle it makes no noise, but if I click on something and it has to complete a task I hear the high pitched sound. Has anyone had this issue?

(P.S. I muted the speakers and the sound continued.)

The hich pitched sound when you are using the computer is the harddrive accessing information from the programs.

No. You are hearing the high-pitched squeal of a power bypass capacitor. When the processor uses more power like when it is processing, caps that are a little out of spec can squeal. There's not much you can do about this, short of a logic board replacement, but it's usually not loud enough to annoy.
