I really need to get a PowerBook - Now. Well, at least in the next 6 weeks. I'm starting to think that with the Intel changeover coming up, my best move might be to buy a used one, use it for a year or two, then upgrade.

Where's the best place to look for a used PB? I tried eBay, but a lot of those are too good to be true. Seeing many of those (Practically new PB's for $900) get yanked by eBay makes me even jumpier.

So, where does one look? I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

I'm looking on eBay and I don't see any powerbooks for $900.

Care to share where you're finding these? If you are looking at current bids, that's nowhere near what an auction ends at because most people place last-minute bids, especially on high-ticket items like PBs. eBay is actually a fairly reliable place to buy electronics, provide you screen the listings with some common sense.

My two cents.

Here are a couple. What do you think of these? The REALLY cheap ones got yanked by eBay. For the others, I realize now that when I said, "practically new" it was probably hyperbole.

eBay auction number 5229026889 and 5797461068

These don't seem to be unreasonably low in price.

I'm considering selling my 15" PB. What kind of budget do you have? Mine's a fully loaded 1.5ghz with 2GB of ram, so it should pull at least $2k. PM/Email me if you're interested.

Apple just listed a whole assortment of re-conditioned Powerbooks on their site. I believe they all come with Apple 1-yr. warranty.
