Any idea if the new ibooks have the same problem with the keys causing marks on the screen when closed?

The case is the same so probably yes. Either use a screen protector or just don't squeeze the ibook, put it in a sleeve or something. It seems the only people with the keyprints put their ibooks directly in their bags between text books or something.

I think any laptop has the potential for keyboard marks. I have been using a Shaggymac screen protector for 2 years and my screen is mint.

Many laptops never have this problem. It seems to be a continuing problem with the design of Mac laptops however.

I use the original insert that comes with the unit, or else just a sheet of paper. For a 12" laptop, you have to fold the paper on one side to make it fit, but otherwise it works great.
