Is this disc alright for my Powerbook?

Why wouldn't it be? If it can't install, the installer will tell you.

You can use an Apple Tiger 10.4 install disk for your PBook, but you're talking about using a Tiger install disk designed for, and included with, a specific G5, either iMac, or PowerMac, and those cannot be used for another Mac model, just like you cannot use a PBook install disk on an iMac, etc.

There's an easy hack if your willing to make a read/write .dmg from the original install disk and burn the .img after making a change in only one line of one of the install files.
