My Powerbook G4 1.5G 15" gets dang hot..like other users, can't put it on my thighs. As an engineer, the heat really worries me.

When it gets hot, I hear a clicking-noise..is this the fan kicking in? Or, is it something else?

Right now, I have the PB proppped up at the front.

I have a HP PC laptop, that doesn't get hot, & I can hear the fan running.

I guess I answered my own question:

I heard the clicking noise again, then opened up Temperox. It shows the "rear left fan" at 1797 rpm.

This whole time I thought the noise was a disk drive about to explode!!

I've seen this device @Compusa: a flat base (doesn't prop up the PB) which has 2 fans that are USB powered. Around $60..is it worth it? Except, I don't like using USB slot.

What about an Aluminum base, you can get it at Target (Kitchen Accessories)..does that help dissipate the heat? Don't they make a specific accessory like that for Powerbooks?
