My gf's keen on getting an old G3 iBook because she likes the way it looks. Im conserned with the specs. She works in Photoshop CS2, making web design, artwork,... Can the old G3 handle that or will I need to install Tiger (via xPostFacto), put in more RAM, a faster HDD?
Help

you mean the pre-ice book iBook? I think the fastest was something like 466Mhz, 66Mhz bus and had an 800x600 screen. I really wouldn't recommend running Photoshop on that system. Maybe OS 9 with Photoshop 6. but even then.....
i've got a 300Mhz blueberry model. tiger + anything is way too slow on it. it's an OS 9 box for me.

I also have the original 300mhz Blueberry iBook running OS 9.2 and it handles Photoshop fine. There's the occasional lag when working with big files, but I attribute that to the fact that it only has 64mb of RAM (soon to be increased). I use Photoshop 7 and Dreamweaver MX on this machine at the same time, while also logged onto the internet, and have never had a problem.

I used Photoshop 5 on my blueberry 300 MHz iBook. It did the job fine but the screen size will drive you nuts. 800*600 is simply not enough for photoshop with its toolboxes.
