I just bought a used iBook that arrived more scratched than the seller led me to beleive. I have iCleaner that i bought for my iPod and I tried to use it but it just didn't seem to do anything. Is there a trick to using this stuff that I'm not doing, or is there a better alternative to removing the unsightly scratches. Help!

Not much you can do... try finding a MacSkinz cover, or as an alternative to removing scratches, you can make more with sandpaper.

What you can try is toothpaste. It can be used to polish scratches out of perspex. That works nicely. I usually polish scratches out of the back window of my convertible with toothpaste.

No guarantee, I did not try it with an iBook. But I guess it should work there too. Best would be to try at the bottomside at first.

3M rubbing compound and a lot of elbow grease will get 95% of the scratches out. You can get the stuff at Wal-Mart or any good automotive store.

Thank you guys for your help. I will give both of those suggestions a try. Maybe not the sandpaper...
