there is 1 user accessible memory slot which is occupied with a 256mb stick (there is 256mb built-in), for 512mb total. you can replace that 1 stick with a 1gb stick, giving you, 1.25gb total

The built in RAM is soldered on the motherboard, there is only one physical memory socket in the machine.

will 512 ram be enough if i'm just web browsing, word proccesing, using limewire or bit torrent, or an ocasional game of call of duty (not simultaneously)? or should I go ahead and get a 1 gig stick? or will the 512 stick + 256 be enough?

I got a relatively cheap 1 Gig stick for like $134 from Other World Computing, but as I just looked here: http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgr...=Show+Upgrades the price has gone up to $149. Either way, it's much cheaper than what you would pay for it when you first bought your PB.

Maybe (currently $117.99 is the cheapest I see). And you'll have absolutely no assurance that they will be compatible with your Mac.
If you are a mac-adept and don't mind installing and testing RAM for yourself, and are willing to risk the time, trouble and return shipping (and sometimes restocking) charges, then you may be able to save a few dollars.
For everyone else I recommend that you only buy RAM from a reputable vendor who tests and guarantees compatibility with your specific model Mac.
Thanks
