I've been looking at buying a rev. c 12" powerbook (looking on ebay, apple refurb site etc.) I know that a refurb powerbook purchased through apple can obviously be enrolled in applecare, but what about a powerbook purchased on ebay (assuming it is still under the original one year warranty)? Would I just need to ask the seller the original date of sale? Would I need copies of the original sales receipt? Thanks for any help in advance!

So I would need a copy of the original receipt? Or just the original date of sale?

I think apple will have the info in the apple database. I would post in one of the apple forums though to be sure.

an apple person may answer your question for sure... also , if you are nearby an apple store drop by. (always a fun thing to do)

Apple has that info in theory. ALWAYS get a copy of the original receipt when buying a machine that's still under warranty.

All you need is the Serial Number of the machine.

Go here and enter it. (If it was registered)...

http://www.apple.com/support/

Scroll down and look on the right-hand side of the page. Enter the serial number and tick 'go'.
It will show the remaining time on the warranty.
