1 - what are the major differences between the ibook and the powerbook? - speed of processor arent so important to me - the ibook would be quick enough, but things like connectability and screen resolution are.

2 - with the powerbook, someone said i could use it as a dvd recorder plugged into my cable connection by using an extra piece of hardware and software - i think it was with EyeTv or something - can i do that with the ibook too?

3 - can i run os9? my present iMac opens up os9 within osX if i open a os9 application - do the later editions of osX also have that capability?

4 - if i select a bigger hd than the basic 40gb - if i choose 80 or 100gb, does that increase the physical weight of the machine?

thanks.

1. I assume you are comparing 12" iBook with 12" PowerBook? obviously the 15" PowerBook has a better screen resolution...

What you have on the PowerBook which is not on the iBook :
- Faster processor / bus
- DVI output
- 64Mb of video RAM
- Audio Line-In input (iBook only has a microphone for audio input)
- Larger HD standard
- Faster HD (5200rpm)
- Superdrive (not available on 12" iBook

On larger models :
- Higher screen resolution
- Illuminated keyboard with ambient light sensor (pretty cool!)
- Firewire 800
- Optical audio in/out (on 17" PowerBook)
- Dual DVI link output to drive Apple 30" cinema display

Go to http://www.apple.com/powerbook/specs.html for details... I guess it's the best source of information.

2. No idea
3. Yes
4. No (I suppose)
