Hi.

Upon logging in I am getting this message in a pop up window that then fades away.

"Device address not set"

The system seems fine otherwise. And I can get on the net via my wireless connection.

The thing is, I just installed some extra RAM for my iBook G4 12" 1.33GHz. It is Crucial Ram pc2700 200pin SO-DIMM 512Mb non-ECC. Which I am certain is compatible, although I got it from EBuyer not directly from Crucial themselves. But I was careful that the spec for the RAM matched exactly the Crucial spec they give for my ibook on their web site.

The RAM showed up fine when I switched my computer on: total 1Gb. But, since the battery was out of the ibook for fifteen minutes, the clock had reset to 1-1 - 1970 which I then immediately set back to 2005 today, as the system told me to. I am hoping this is what is triggering the device address message...

can anyone with more hardware skills than me help with advice on this? Should I take out RAM - can ti do any damage? Have turned machine off for now until I can be sure.

thanks

yay I seem to have fixed it, by stopping any apps starting up when I log in (I mean things like Salling Clicker, Adium and Safari). Most likely culprit is my bluetooth looking for my device, hence the device address not being set...perhaps it got reset because of the battery being off for too long. 1Gb still shows fine : )

Going to restart again just to check. Hope fully I won't be back here when I use my mobile again with my computer.
