like the title says, i want to have the ibook running while closing the lid. I want to do that because i play video and watch it thru video adaptor to TV. So i want to turn off LCD or close the lid to turn off LCD, but the ibook just turn to sleep completely.

I don't think you can do that. A friend of mine tried to do that so he could run iStumbler while the iBook was in his backpack... No dice..

But you can turn the brightness on the screen way down. No annoying backlight and you save power.
