I have an iBook, 14" G4 384MB. It's a little over a year old. (It's the one that was stolen.) Sometimes my husband will shut it down and I can't get it to turn back on by pressing the button. I have to take out the battery and unplug it, then put the battery back and it starts. What's up? Can anyone shed some light on this problem? What do I do?

Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, I couldn't find the right key word to search for so nothing was found.

Thanks,

k-

Hard to tell... maybe your iBook is faulty. You can try to reset the Power Management Unit to fix the issue.

1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.

Thanks, I'll try it. Does this reset all my power settings, too? like when to sleep and such?

Not it doesn't. It will likely reset the internal clock of your iBook though, and maybe the brighness of the screen as well...

OK, I did the power reset and I'm still having this problem. Any other clues?
