So my 17" PB was spitting out every disk I put into it, regardless of brand or type. I called Apple and did some tests and they couldn't think of anything other than a drive failure and decided I should bring it it.
Unwilling to let go of my PB for a week or more, I've been "fiddling" around with it to see if I could fix it. And I have.
How you ask? By squeezing the case at top and bottom over the optical drive. And voila!
I knew the drive was still partly working, but felt there was just some sort of error with how the disk was going in. Turns out my suspicions were correct.
So if you have this problem in the future, and there's no other apparent cause, give the squeeze a shot. But don't be a hero. Use a reasonable amount of force. No need to crush it.

I dont know man, your advice didnt seem to help my poor 1ghz Titanium. Its superdrive took a crap on me about a month ago and I dont know what I should do. It takes the discs in just fine when I insert them, whirls for a quick second, than follows through with a loud "click" noise that it never used to make. It whirls one more time than spits it out.

I have noticed that the flat portion where I rest my right palm while I am typing has caved in, and is able to move up and down and not in a stable position with the white colored edge. Not sure if that has something to do with it or not, seeing how it is nothing new.

Maybe I should take apart the case and maybe get things straightend out? Would anyone happen to have a quide or instructions on how to do so?
