Well, I finally did it! I ordered my 15"/1.67 GHz/128MB VRAM/Superdrive Powerbook today, with airport express station for wireless printing, MS Office and I also put it an order at newegg for a 1gig stick of ram.

This is my first Mac, but unfortunately I don't have a unique switcher story. I just basically witnessed firsthand how awesome the Mac is as a personal computer, and that was enough to convince me. I am so excited, now I get to play the "check the apple website, then UPS tracking website every 5 minutes" game while on the company clock,

My fiancee has already prepared herself to be alone for the next few weeks and to be in, "can't touch the new tech toy" mode. I tend to think I can be a bit anal sometimes with my new electronics.

I will post pictures as soon as possible!

Congrats! I am a recent Wintel to Mac person, and I am lovin' my 12" Powerbook. The build quality and the OS are just awesome. Also, I have yet to find anything (external hard drive, my DVD burner, 2 Printers) that does not work with it. No drivers to download, no hassle, it just works.

Hey sorry to ruin your thread but I have a question. I'm buying the same computer as you and I was wondering if I need to buy the airport exreme base station to get wireless internet? I have a PC in the room next to me and I have a router set up to it. I thought the airport card would pick up the signal right away without the base. Can someone help?

Yes, your Mac will pick signal from your current base station.

It will ask you if you want to add that network to your preferred networks list, and if you need a WEP Password, it will ask you to enter it. Otherwise, you will automatically be connected, and your signal strength is shown in the Airport icon in the top bar.

Awesome! I get more excited by the minute.......this is going to be a LOOONG wait. Speaking of waiting, how long did it take you guys to get your powerbooks after ordering? I noticed I place this order this morning at about 0630 PST, and by 1500 PST today they had it "sent to manufacturing". How long will it stay there? Do they work over the weekend? They said the expected ship date was 9/8/05!! Which is like a week in manufacturing, that can't be right. I have a 3 day weekend next weekend, and I was hoping to get it by Thursday of next week.

I ordered it on a Thursday, then received it on a wednesday of the next week, but Memorial Day was that weekend.

I'd give it 7 business days or so, but trust me, it is worth the wait. Did you buy any accessories with it?

No accessories yet, any suggestions on what I should get? I'm usually an accessorizing phenom. I know I need to get a bag, I'm really thinking the Brenthaven Fusion Flex.

I would recommend the Mighty Mouse, excellent headphones or speakers, and definitely a travelling case.
