It IS a great feature. It lets you check battery charge while the iBook is closed.

Whenever you find a new button you should press it. It's an unwritten rule.

am i the only one who has never used this feature? i mean, i can see its use when you have a couple of batteries and want to check whether one which isn't plugged in is dead or charged, but how often do you want to check the charge of the battery that is in your laptop without having to start it up? okay, now that i write that i'm thinking of a few scenarios, so i might go away...

either way, budster is entirely correct - shame on you for not pushing it to see what it does! just watch out for the other button, cos that's the "self destruct" for the hard drive.

Yup. Apple's had these nice battery level buttons for at least 7 years, could be more.

I know what you mean, a very slick feature. I had mine for 3 months before I realized that button existed. ;-)

I opened my iBook box upside-down, so this is one of the first things I saw!

The button and LEDs are on the battery, so you can check the charge even if the battery isn't in the 'Book.
