Well, this is weird...

I received an old clamshell iBook today, it's in excellent condition in appearance, hardly any scratches on the outside, perfect inside. However, it came with no os9 install disks, but had 9.2.2 installed on it. I added some ram and an airport card. Os 9 it would fail to open airport. When booting into my back up os x (on firewire drive) it connected to the 'net no problem, 1st time.

I have tried installing from an os 9 disk that I still have from years ago (no scratches) but all I get is the folder with the ? flashing.

I have zapped the pram, ran diskwarrior (clutching at straws really) but to no avail. When I ran DW it told me there was NO SYSTEM folder, even though I HAD installed os 9 on it (through classic in os x, as I cannot run it natively from holding the C key on reboot).

Any ideas why this iBook cannot see os 9? I really am at a loss here, and thought I can run 10.4 on it I'd rather just use 9... that's nostalgia for ya...

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help...

All sorted now...

Managed to dig up a younger version of os 9 (9.2.2) and it booted up fine...

It's been so long since I had this kind of problem I forgot to check the compatibility of the rom/os...
