Anyone else noticing heat issues since installing Tiger? My Ti867 gets quite toasty. The sensor in the HD shows 40C+ just from playing iTunes with the screen brightness at zero. Gets even higher if watching a dvd or anything CPU intensive. It never got that hot on 10.3. If anyone else wants to see their own temp reading to compare, use the Hardware Monitor Widget from Apple's widget page or maybe some other temperature monitor. All I know is that my laptop's G4 chip is hovering around the same temperature mark as the PC that I use as a space heater is usually at (50C) and that is disturbing since it used to be much cooler.

My PB17 runs, on average, a little cooler in Tiger than Panther. About 118 F.

I would call applecare. Even if you don't have applecare, a lot of times they'll be cool as long as you're not a 13 year old brat that broke her ipod mini by leaving it in the rain. (i once saw a girl come into the apple store with her ipod and told the genious that she left it in the rain but "only for a little bit" and was whining that it was broken)
anyway, they know what you've purchased and when they see that you've been a mac user for a while, they'll be cool. (why do you think when you call about an ipod they ask you to "please state the type of mac you're using, or just say 'windows machine'"
I called for an iMac g3 that didn't have applecare and he was like, "i'm not supposed to help you because i could get in trouble...but search this at the apple troubleshooting site.." and then told me how to fix the problem!
and if it makes you feel better, my albook gets so hot i can't put it on my lap. and my palms get sweaty when i'm typing. Best of luck!

I am having problems with heat on my powerbook also. I checked Apple's forums and there is a thread on heat issues there too but some people seem to have it worse than others. Mine is quite hot where i can't rest it in my lap either. So far no real answers on Apple's forums yet.
