This has been bugging me for about a week now.

Every couple minutes my Rev D 12" PB will produce a faint grinding noise that sounds like it's coming from the left side of the keyboard. I've done the usual searches and there is something similar to what I am experiencing that is deemed to be normal ... but I got worried when the PB made the same noise while sleeping. I've also heard it both with the power cord attached and when it's running on batteries.

I managed to record the sound down and wondered if anyone else knows for sure.

Click here to hear what it sounds like.

Any input would be much appreciated.

It could be the hard drive heads parking.
My Ibook makes some odd high pitched squeaking but it's still alive.

I think he was refering to the fact that the dog started barking right after you hear the PB noise. Total coincidence I swear.

Still waiting for any possible answers ... searching the Apple Discussion Boards now but nothing has turned up so far.

Here's one ... but no resolution there.

Sounds like it might be the HD though. I have backed everything up to be safe.
