I was about to buy a powerbook 12", but i noticed when looking at the ibooks, that both the 12" and 14" have 512mbs bulit in with a max of 1.5GB of ram. I thought this couldn't be the powerbook only has 256mbs built in with a max of 1.25, that sucks. So i thought to myself i will just wait for them to update the powerbook. I began looking around to see when the last update was done on the powerbooks, and yeah i found the article that apple might be discontinuing the 12". Im just looking for opinions of what you would do go with the 12" still or maybe buy the 14' ibook?, or if you know any more about the discontinuing of the 12" powerbook, i would hate to buy the powerbook and then find out that they are going to update the RAM in it, and reveal it at the france show.

I also know there are more differences between the ibook and the powerbook, like harddrive speed, and very little processor difference in the 14" ibook and 12" powerbook. The ibook is also bulit with some crazy plastic, which seems like it would be sturdy. but if you know anyother differences that i might consider in this all i would be grateful to hear them.
Im a video and graphics guy, that wants a very portable laptop for school, just so you know.

thanks

I wouldn't be suprised if they replaced the 12" Powerbook with a 13" Widescreen Powerbook. Either way, even the current iteration of the 12" Powerbook is much better at gaming and encoding. For some reason my new 12" can't even compare to the frame rates that I observed one time at the Apple Store on a 12" Powerbook. And this is with 1GB of ram, and a 5400rpm hdd drive (I did the upgrade myself) so it can only be either the 133fsb or the Radeon 9550 being too ram limited..

I would suggest either wait for Macworld Paris, or try and find a refurb 15" 1.33ghz, since they are in a price range much closer to the 12", and won't see as drastic of a change during the next updates (unless apple goes ahead and releases a new powerbook chassis! but that shouldn't happen until the intel switch)
MacBook Pro (Mid 2007), 2.4Ghz, 2GB DDR2-667Mhz, 160GB, Superdrive, Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT w/256MB, 15.4" WXGA+ LCD
