OK, so i didnt know if i should put this in the iBook or the mac mini forum, so i put it in here, hope thats ok
So I have had my heart set on a mini for ages now, and I have recently started to think that maybe an iBook would be more suitable, seeing as I am a student in my final GCSE year, soon to be going to 6th form college, so the portability would be great. I am planning to get a re-furb iBook from the apple store, hoping for around 20-30% off.
Is there any real differences between the mac mini 1.42 & the ibook 12" 1.33 (barr the obvious that the ibook has a screen )

The iBook also has a keyboard.
The updated iBooks have more ram standard but there's no discernible difference in performance.

Go for the ibook. They are pretty much the same machine minus the obvious, and previously stated. You can't lose based on the portablity alone. Now, I could understand the dilemma if you were considering ibook vs imac.

Just looking on the apple site, will the 133 mhz FSB vs 167 make any differnce in speed?

Also, the Mac Mini and the iBook both have 512 MB Standard, so they have the same.
Amount of RAM, that is.

You can't really compare a desktop and a laptop Harris, it just depends on what you want to use. For me, sitting on the couch at night when I'm bored browsing the web is priceless rather than sitting at a desk all the time. With the portable you can sit at a desk with an external keyboard/mouse if you'd like, or you can take the iBook around with you everywhere you go. The mini just stays on the desk. So over all, it probably comes down to the price you're willing to pay and what you want to do with the machine.
