Hi I'm pretty new to mac. Here is the thing, randomly, the speaker gets off balance. As in, if you go to the preference on the sound, the balance of the speaker gets to the left. I'm no really sure whats causing this. But yea, I was hoping you guys knew the answer, or maybe there are a few people that had the same problem.

I got so sick of it I stuck:

/usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "SEC Helper"' -e 'set system sound balance to 0.5' -e 'end tell'

into my crontab file. SEC Helper is installed with sony ericsson clicker cause I couldn't find any other way of changing the balance by applescript.

You can't eat all those hamburgers, you hear me you ridiculous man?

Hey Auda, i'm new here also, just got a refurb Powerbook 15, 1.67gh from Apple. My right speaker is really weak also, so I sent the laptop back to Apple thinking it was bad and they sent me another one and this one has the same thing, the right speaker is weak so I think thats how most Powerbooks are. I've played with the balance in the system prefs, and when I move the balance all the way to the right speaker, i hear sound in the left speaker also, and when i move it to the left speaker, I dont hear anything in the right one and when I move it to the middle, the right one is way weaker. So they must have made the right one weaker for some dumb reason, probably cuz the power button is there and they didnt have much room for stuff...
Later.

Anyone tried mucking about in

System Preferences > Sound > Output > Balance?
or
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup > Audio Devices > Audio Output > Channel Volume Slider?

I'm running the latest rev PB. The left speaker is deffinately louder than the right speaker, but it's not that much of an issue.

In Audio MIDI Setup, with the audio volume set with the top four bars turned off, I changed the left speaker to 0.73 (-8.57). and the right speaker to 0.73 (-9.07). That evened things up a lot for me.

Does anyone know if the is just an issue with the internal speakers, or whether the problem persists with external speakers/headphones?

Cheers.

Ya I tried the Midi setup and it did ok for me too. No, this problem doesnt occur with external headphones or such, its normal with those thankfully.
Thanks...

Strange.. in that case the changes in the Audio MIDI Setup would affect output on external speakers/headphones... whic wouldn't be a good thing.. I guess just decide on which you would use more often, and adjust your settings accordingly.
