Was
Air port card not receving some times.
In my previos post I stated
[I]<>Ok heres the deal all of a sudden I have to be in the room with the Linksys wireless G broadband router.
now Iv used the Ibook all over the house and out in the yard worked fine then all of a sudden if I steep out of the room I lose all signal.
what could the cause of this be....????????????????????????????????????<>[/
I]

Ok I found out what the problem was with my I book Airport not getting a constant signal outside the room the I had a broken cable. I have spliced it and seem to be working better now.

But I goofed something up

I seem to have pinched a screen cable when I put it all back together and now the screen blacks out at some angels.

Unfortunately I cant distinguish which wire it might be.

Can any one tell me which wire would be the most likely one to cause this problem and where it is located?

What type of iBook do you have?

I just bought a screen cable and larger hinge from eBay.co.uk for an iBook G3 thats on it's way to me. The cable actually came from eBay.ca (Canada)

I'd suggest looking out for something like this and if possible replace the screen cables and hinge.

it is a ibook 500 dual usb.
that’s a good idea replacing the hinges and the cable ...my hinges seem fine but the cable is most likely what’s been damaged . Thanks

There's nothing actually wrong with the hinge, it's perfectly fine BUT it's a bit small or something and the screen cables get pinched in it.
I'm not sure quite how it works, haven't got the iBook yet.
When I get it I will compare the hinges, old and new to see what the difference is.

I got a hinge and screen cable package for £27 including p&p, a bit expensive but it seems like a good deal provided the new modified hinge won't cause any more problems and the screen cables stay in tact.

Provided you're in the U.S Smalldog electronics sells them for $20 and i'd try and get a new style hinge if possible although I don't know how to tell the difference unless doing it side by side.

I'll tell you how it goes once I get the iBook and i'll give some information on how hard it all was.

Good luck,

Sean
