Hey All,
Bought my first mac, 15 PowerBook G4 for $500.00, at an estate sale a month or so back and still have it and think I will keep it. It has a 667MHz powerPC G4 processor, 1MB L3 cache, 30GB Hard Drive and I upgraded it to 1GB RAM (maxed out) Tiger, and the latest MS Office suite. It needs a little more love as some screws and the little pads on the bottom are missing.
I have a few questions and need some advise. Can I upgrade the processor or is it like PC laptops not worth the expense? Where can I find the little peices that I mentioned screws and pads to make it complete? I can still upgrade the hard drive and probably will however, is it woth it? Can I trade it in towards the purchase of a new or news PowerBook?
Thanks in advance for your comments and help.

You can't upgrade the processor in a PowerBook. If you could, it'd probably mean replacing the entire logic board which would be too expensive to do.

Little bits and pieces? Sorry, I can't help there, but IIRC there are some online Mac stores that sell these types of thing... just can't recall who they were... er, it may be www.smalldog.com?

What I can help you with though is the official Apple Manual for seeing how to take your laptop apart if you ever need to (or is the hard drive easily replaced on that version PowerBook?).

There are actually some PowerBook G4 CPU upgrade services available, but it depends on the PowerBook in question.
