I have a replacement 17" PowerBook that I am currently using, but I've been using my charger for my 12" PowerBook (which is currently being repaired) to charge it. Should this matter at all? After having the 17" plugged into the charger for about a week or so, I've unplugged it and noticed that the battery is nearly dead, even after being plugged in for so long. Is it maybe just keeping the computer powered, and not charging it? The battery on this 17" seems to be getting really hot too, way hotter than it ever got on my 12". Anybody have any idea what's going on?

The 12" Powerbook uses a 45 W adaptor and the 17" Powerbook uses a 65 W adaptor. For charging while the machine is asleep, it should be no problem. But when in normal operation, the 45 W adaptor does not provide enough power to charge the battery and operate the machine at the same time. As for the hot battery, I'm not too sure.
