Recently I have been having problem with my computer not responding. The problem generally occurs while viewing websites. I get the famous beachball with safari open. Not all places have been a problem, but it seems to be becoming more and more of a problem so I am begining to get worried. I love my powerbook and having to do a hard restart because it won't respond to anything has me wondering what is wrong. I never had these problems when I got my pb over three months ago. On the rare ocassion I can actually get a forced quit to work, I still have to restart my computer because all safari or any other programs will do is jump in the dashboard but not execute. Any ideas on what is wrong?
Some Specs on my pb:
15" 1.67 with 1GB RAM
128MB graphics
80GB Hard Drive (I have 55GB free.)

Firstly, give repair permissions a shot. You can do that from "disk utility" in Applications/Utilities folder.
If that helps, keep in mind you should do that every now and again just to keep everything running right.
Let us know...

i vote buy one now, you need a better keyboard apparently...
and to the thread starter, this happened to me a while back, i tried the above "repair permissions" thing and it worked, if not just format and reinstall os x, that will always do the trick

This is a java problem, and happens with the latest Java update. If you go to foxnews.com and some other sites you will have this problem. I had it and it drove me crazy. Go to the apple forums and apple.com and there is a forum for Apple software. It covers Safari, and in it you will see threads about this and fixes....
Check out this link... http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...F4.1@.68ba83f0 , this is the fix that worked for me. You can get a temp fix by clearing the Java cache, but the fix in the link above did it for me.
