At the very least I would have liked to have seen the iBook vid card updated.

The iBook was just updated recently, maybe two months ago? I agree completely that that vid card should be revamped, but it would be more realistic to expect an update in a few months.

The iBook just got an upgrade, the video-card was updated too, new iBooks come with Radeon 9550.

Yes- but weren't the Mini's updated at the exact same time?

Yep== the minis were definitely updated at the same time as the iBooks.

Mini update

I don't believe the video card was updated at the time though. A friend bought one around the time of the last update, and she got a faster processor and built in bluetooth/ airport, but no video upgrade.

What in the world is this, a stealth update?

The Mac Mini needed/needs an update more than the current iBook line. They have a Radeon 9550 compared with the measly 9200 that is currently on the Minis.

Anyway, don't hold your breath on that iBook update - it won't happen until they start shipping them with Intel processors next year.

This is Apple's new way of announcing upgrades. Unannounced speed bumps!

I don't consider upgrading ram from 256MB to 512MB an update (for the mini).

I agree with you Eriamjh! The update last July should've been a "silent update" and this "silent update" should've been announced. Oh well... good thing none of my friends bought a Mac Mini.
