I was looking at Crucial's site the other day, and I saw the 1g memory is the same price as Apple's 500m. Is the Apple memory that much better were it would cost that much more?

nope, apple just charges an obscene amount for additional ram, as do most computer manufacterers. best bet is to get ram on newegg or another third party website, which will be even cheaper than buying directly from crucial or any other ram manufacturer. i'm getting a gig stick for 125 shipped at newegg.

Apple is charging too much for the memory... this is well known. Get it from crucial, NEVER EVER from Apple.

If you buy your RAM from Apple, you mind as well let them rap you.

I remember hearing something about installing new RAM into an iBook killing AirPort receptions. Has anyone had this problem? I'm probably going to upgrade my RAM once I get my Student Union rebate check, and need to do some research (I'm planning on the recommended Corsair stuff from Newegg).

I have a question for you.

Is that memory compatible with the 12'' PowerBook 1.5Gz ?

If yes, then what is the reference # for the memory

thanks
