I currently have a 15" PB and would like to give that to my wife and treat myself to a new one. To make it as cost efficient as possible - I'm looking at getting a 12" PB and then a LCD monitor for it. Am I correct in assuming that my LCD need not be a widescreen one? I'm planning on getting a Dell or something (again, to save costs) and would rather not have to look at a "squished" resolution. Anyone know what the max resolution the 12" can support?
Oh - and just curious - if the 12" is in fact not widescreen - can it support a widescreen LCD (just in case I find a good deal on one).
Thanks in advance.

the 12" could handle a massive size in resolution...ive seen it run a Dell 24" LCD at full resolution n not skip a beat. theres technical specs on apples site, but im not gonna go diggin through that this early in the morn, i know my PB (specs below) handles my 20" widescreen LCD beautifully.

From Apple:
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports up to 1024 x 768 pixels on the built-in display and up to 2048 x 1536 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors (6)

The 12" has no problem connecting to high resolution LCDs (up to the limit of single link DVI) and/or widescreen (which will not look stretched or squished if you use spanning instead of mirroring).
Like the 9200 in the Mac mini, the 5200Go in the 12" PowerBook can be a little sluggish for effects on high resolution LCDs (WSXGA+ and WUXGA), but its not terrible.
