I am running a TI powerbook in OS 10.3. The LCD screen is broken so I am using and external monitor. The computer has died on me ( I can boot up from an installation disk) but when I want to run the installation software, it reverts back to using the missing LCD screen, so i can't run the programme 'cause i can see what's going on. I've also tried using the s video out cable to a TV, but same results.
Is there a solution to this?
Thanks in advance.

No. It's always going to default to the internal screen when you install the OS because the machine knows for sure that that screen is there. There's no guarantee that there is an external display. All I can suggest is hold down T at boot time to boot in Firewire Target Disk Mode, attach the machine to another computer via Firewire, and install the OS that way.

Run it with the screen closed. All you need is an external keyboard and mouse. As long as it's booted with the screen physically closed, but with an external display attached, it'll use it.
Oh, and the PB has to be running on the AC adapter to use this mode.

The screen has been removed, but I'll try to activate the switch in the lock mech.
Thanks and will post results later.
