Hello

Is there a list of supported dvd burners for Tiger? My current dvd burner recently crapped out on me and I want to get a new one for my external enclosure.. but I would like one that will work well with Tiger...

In addition any recommend burners out there? Looking for dual layer capable 16x speed.. for a reasonable price..

Thanks

Frank

xlr8yourmac.com has a drive compatibility database, with real-world reports on which drives work with which models.

Historically, OS X has featured support for the latest Pioneer burners. I know that Tiger now supports many other drives and brands too.

Pioneer DVR-110D... supported by OS X, fastest burner speeds available, supports all the DVD formats except DVD-RAM, lets you set the booktype, and it's $45 at Newegg.

Yep, I just put one of these in the G5 at work. Cheap and fast!

Does anyone if the Pioneer DVR-110D drive mentioned is region locked or is it region free?

OEM firmware on Pioneer drives locks to selected region after a max of 6 changes. Region free would require a hacked firmware.

Since I have a PC tower next to me, does anyone know of a firmware hack that can be applied to said drive under Windows?

As far as I know there aren't any regionfree hacked firmwares for the DVR-109 or DVR-110D yet.
