TiBook - swapping CD-RW for DVD drive

My TiBook 550mhz has a CD-RW drive but I'd prefer to have DVD. I've seen a drive on ebay, but if I fit this drive will I be able to watch DVDs on my TiBook or is there further DVD decoding hardware that was on those models? i.e. will the standard Apple DVD Player app work as normal?

Any help appreciated!

DVD decoding is done entirely in software in the TiBooks. Mac OS 9 might have problems with drivers, but under OS X it will definitely work.
