I have a pismo running 10.1.5 and i want to update to Tiger. i know i need at least 10.3 so i tried the 10.3 disk, but when i try to startup from the 10.3 disk (10.3.7 disk from my friend's powerbook), i see the folder with the "?". any information you could give me would be a great help, thanks!

you have the set of cds for 10.3? be sure you're starting with disk 1...
you might also try the disk on your friend's mac, just to be sure it's not damaged
(this just happened to a friend of mine...the cd was scratched)
just some thoughts, late nite!

The discs that come with a computer have installers tied to that particular model. I'm not sure if that's why your Pismo won't actually boot from the disc, but even if you get that to work you may have problems w/ the installer.
A good workaround might be to start the Pismo in target disk mode and install usiing your friend's Powerbook.

No, just start your computer in target disk mode, plug it in to your friend's computer and then reboot your friend's computer from the OS X installer CD. When the computer comes back up, you'll be able to select your hard drive within the installer program.

Thank you so much for your response! I was finally (after much effort and frustration) able to install Tiger on my pismo and i'm thrilled! However, I'm not able to install the bundled software for some reason...any suggestions on how to avoid this problem? Thanks again!
