The power supply for my Tibook died a little while ago. I bought a new one as I needed it quickly. Looking at the old one, it seems the cable has been worn where it enters the case and, in fact, the new power supply seems to have been re-designed to reduce the wear at that point.

I was thinking perhaps I could open up the power supply and just cut off the wire and resolder it. However, I'm having grief opening the case, as it appears to be completely glued together. I wondered if anyone has ever opened one of these up. It would be handy to have a second psu.

Cheers,

J.

What power supply is it?

Yo Yo, white brick?

If it's the Yo Yo, force and a screw driver are the answer.
You may break the plastic but you can glue it back on.

Then you need to remove the white plastic bit on the inside then the metal and then a screw holding a plastic base and the metal top on.

The wire in the power cord is coaxial; it's an absolute nightmare to splice (though if it were attaching to a circuit board inside, it wouldn't be tooo bad.

I'd sooner buy a replacement adapter.

It's the white brick.

I did buy a new one, just wondering if I could resurrect the old one as a project. No loss if it gets trashed, jjust be nice to try and fix it. It'll get opened somehow, I'd just like to open it without breaking it into too many pieces.
