PLEASE HELP....

downloaded a huge file sunday morning.. filled up the hard drive.. it's happened before.. but this time it froze finder... so i restart... won't boot.. folder question mark.. i've had this happen before.. so i boot up disk warrior and it proceeds to rebuild.. everything fine... but then.. half way through finding the volume directory it pops up with drive is to severly damaged to rebuild... and now the s.m.a.r.t. functions don't even work... so in a last attempt to save all my 75 gigs of extremely important data i plugged it in firewire to a mac mini.. hoping to pull something off... no drive shows up for 20 minutes.. literally.. then the drive pops up into disk utility out of no where.. yet is not read by the computer at all.. hence i can't get any files off or repair it or anything.. i am desperate to save some things.. i had a lot backed up.. but there are things on it that i don't want to lose.. specifically documents, and pictures.. i'll never get her to pose like that again.. please any help at all..

I had a similar situation with a friends iBook that had an unrecoverable hard drive. In the end I had to remove the HD place it in an external case, initialise it and then I ran FileSalvage to find the lost files and copy them to the new internal drive. You could use another Mac with enough space on it's HD to copy to.

Luckily it found nearly all the files.
Good Luck.
